ATLAS Apprentice ("the app") is a read-only student companion app for students of schools and institutions that use the ATLAS platform. It lets a student view their own school record — progress toward required hours, schedule, grades, tuition balance, and documents. The app is published by QLD Holdings, LLC and developed by The Horizon Works Group. This policy explains what the app does with data.
What the app does
ATLAS Apprentice is a presentation layer over your institution's ATLAS platform. It signs you in with your school Google account and then displays your own student record, read-only. The app makes no changes to your school record — it does not submit attendance, payments, grades, or any other data on your behalf.
Signing in
You sign in with Google, using the Google account your school has on file. ATLAS integrates with Google Classroom, so your school Google identity is the account that matches you to your student record. When you sign in, the app sends your Google sign-in token to your institution's ATLAS server, which verifies it and returns an opaque session token. That token is stored in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore), is used only to make authenticated requests to your school's ATLAS server, and is revoked when you sign out. The app creates no account of its own; if your Google account is not matched to a student record, the app simply shows an "enrollment" message and no data.
Data the app handles
- Google account identity (your name and email address) — used only to authenticate you and match you to your existing student record on your institution's ATLAS server.
- Session token — an opaque credential held in the device's secure storage to keep you signed in; cleared on sign-out.
- Your own student record, fetched for display — such as clock-hour progress, class schedule, grades and coursework, tuition balance and last payment date, profile, and documents (for example receipts, transcripts, and enrollment agreements). This information is retrieved read-only from your institution's ATLAS server so the app can show it to you.
The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, or photo library. It contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
How data is used and shared
Your record is retrieved only from your institution's own ATLAS backend, to display it to you. With respect to that student data, QLD Holdings, LLC acts as a service provider to the institution, which controls its own records. Your data is not sold, not shared for advertising, and not used to track users across other apps or websites.
ATLAS Apprentice's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google sign-in information is used solely to authenticate you to your school's ATLAS platform and is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Data retention
Your student records are retained on the institution's ATLAS system per that institution's records policy. The app itself stores only the session token (in secure storage) plus a temporary on-device cache of the record it most recently displayed, so screens load quickly. Signing out clears the session and its cache.
Security
All communication with the ATLAS server uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and the session token is kept in the operating system's secure storage rather than ordinary app storage.
Children's privacy
ATLAS is an institutional system intended for use by adults (18 and older). The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
