Where is my data?

On your iPhone. There is no account and no server of ours. If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings → Privacy, your people, places, and visits are also kept in your own iCloud account — which we cannot read. See the privacy policy.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → Data → Export your data creates a readable JSON file and opens the share sheet — save it to Files, AirDrop it, whatever you choose. Turning on iCloud sync also protects your data against a lost phone.

I turned off iCloud sync — is my data gone?

No. Turning sync off removes the copy in iCloud; everything stays on your phone. The removal finishes the next time you open the app, and the app says so while it's pending.

Why doesn't the map show anything?

Maps, directions, and venue search only exist when Use Apple Maps is on (Settings → Privacy). It ships off because nothing leaves your phone on its own. "Find places near me" additionally needs its own switch and your permission from iOS.

The app says my library couldn't be opened

That screen means the database on your phone failed to open — nothing has been deleted. Force-quit and reopen the app; if it persists, restart your phone. If it still persists, email us before deleting anything.
